AZ Axle Medic Captures More Traffic with Google Ads

AZ Axle Medic is a Phoenix-based commercial truck repair specialist. I designed and built their small business website from the ground up—then took it a step further by running a targeted Google Ads campaign that grew their monthly traffic from a trickle of random clicks to over 200 active users in just three months.

The Challenge

When I designed and developed the AZ Axle Medic small business website, the foundation was solid: clean design, fast performance, and on-page SEO built to rank for local commercial truck repair searches. As a web designer in Phoenix, I know that organic search is a long game—and for a specialty niche like axle spindle repair, the keyword volume was simply too low to generate consistent leads on its own.

The business needed more than occasional visitors trickling in from search results. AZ Axle Medic serves a very specific customer: big rig drivers and fleet operators in the Phoenix area dealing with an urgent, expensive problem. That customer is hard to reach passively—and when they need help, they need it now.

Quality Leads Over Quantity

The most important insight driving this campaign wasn’t about traffic volume—it was about lead quality. A hundred clicks from car owners searching for generic auto repair would deliver zero value to a commercial axle specialist. What mattered was connecting AZ Axle Medic with exactly the right person: a commercial truck driver, inside the service area, with a broken axle, ready to make a call.

This distinction shaped every decision. Chasing impressions or inflated click counts wasn’t the goal. The goal was phone calls that turned into paying jobs—and that required precision, not volume.

The Google Ads Strategy

I built and launched a Google Ads campaign designed to intercept high-intent searches from commercial truck drivers within AZ Axle Medic’s service area. Every element of the campaign was built around specificity:

  • Hyper-local geographic targeting — ads ran exclusively within the service coverage area, eliminating wasted spend on drivers too far out to be served
  • Commercial-intent keywords — targeting the exact phrases a stranded big rig driver would search: axle spindle repair, semi truck axle repair near me, heavy-duty truck axle service Phoenix
  • Urgency-driven ad copy — messaging written for drivers in a high-stress moment, emphasizing speed, reliability, and specialization in commercial vehicles
  • Negative keyword filtering — actively excluding passenger vehicle searches and unrelated terms to protect budget and keep every click relevant

Results

Within three months of launching the Google Ads campaign, AZ Axle Medic grew from a handful of random clicks to over 200 active users per month, according to Google Analytics. More importantly, the quality of those visitors was immediately felt in the calls coming in—not tire-kickers or wrong numbers, but commercial operators with real jobs inside the service area, ready to book.

The campaign proved what the right targeting can do: organic SEO built the foundation, and Google Ads put the business in front of the right people at exactly the right moment.
